This is an exciting time to join us as a permanent Business Partner in our Wellington-based People & Culture team.
The role provides high quality specialist advice on a range of complex people issues, practices and organisational development initiatives aligned to our priorities to our managers within the Business Partners assigned areas. The role reports to our Principal Advisor, People & Culture, sits in a team with Business Partners, Advisors and Coordinators to form a business partnering centre of excellence.

You will have extensive experience as a Senior Advisor or Business Partnership role working across all areas of human resources services environment. You will be experienced in working with senior leadership and can influence and constructively challenge others in a professional manner. You are excellent at stakeholder engagement, building relationships and comfortable working in a diverse, fast-paced environment. Being able to think strategically will help you look ahead for potential challenges and develop applicable solutions.
What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
- Build strong trusting relationships to support strategic people and culture partnerships
- Contribute to the P&C partnering team outcomes to provide high-quality, specialist strategic and operational HR advice.
- Provide evidence based HR business advice to our managers in your areas of responsibility
- Mentor and develop junior team members and peers.
- Manage the implementation of key people initiatives and projects, ensure deadlines are met and outcomes are achieved.
- Manage and support complex employment relations and disciplinary cases as they arise.
- Work with other teams across the Commission in collaborated activities to provide a people lens on Commission initiatives that impact and contribute to the general election, referenda and other critical deliverables.

What you'll need to succeed | Ko ngā mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitū
- A relevant tertiary qualification and at least 8 -10 years of experience in a senior advisory or business partnership role.
- Well-developed influencing skills.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Experience developing written material to meet business requirements while at the same time knowing your audience.
- Experience working in the public sector and an understanding of public sector standards.
