The purpose of Te Tari Pūreke - Firearms Safety Authority is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in firearms safety through an effective regulatory and administrative approach to the Arms Act and Arms Regulations. The modernisation of the Arms Regulatory System will take every opportunity to prevent harm through transparent, high quality, consistent, legislatively correct, and effective regulatory activities, administration, education, and promotion of compliance with the provisions of the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.

The Regulator will earn trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, iwi, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.

About the role:
The Assurance Manager is a newly created position that will report to the Director of Business Services. As the Assurance Manager, you'll be a trusted advisor, providing essential business and systems risk advice to our leadership and executive teams while also developing and leading an annually-refreshed Audit and Assurance work plan, with a strong focus on Cyber and Information Security.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the delivery of high-quality assurance services
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance assurance practices, including the New Zealand Police Assurance Group and third party providers
- Oversee and coordinate ongoing and periodic Cyber and Information security assurance activities
- Report on security trends, validate threats, and ensure compliance with security policies
- Offer a central source of expertise and advice on risk management approaches, tools, practices and standards that meet business requirements
- Champion a risk aware culture and assist the Te Tari Pūreke Executive with effective corporate governance support by supporting regular risk conversations.

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated, hands on experience leading the delivery of high-quality assurance services
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver engaging presentations to a range of stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Understanding of business systems in large strategy-led organisations
- Willingness and ability to work both at the strategic and operational level
- A relevant tertiary qualification preferred.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo police vetting prior to appointment. This position has a midpoint of $151,794 inclusive of kiwisaver.
