At Manatū Hauora we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Risk and Assurance team provides independent and objective assurance and risk advisory services to assist Manatū Hauora (the Ministry) leadership team to deliver on its strategic priorities and meet its accountabilities. This is achieved by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management and internal control processes within the Ministry.

Ko tōu ake mahi - What You'll Do
You will play a crucial role in providing independent and objective assurance and risk advisory services. You will lead the development, planning, and implementation of strategies while ensuring objectives are achieved and reporting on progress. You will report to and support the independent Risk and Assurance Committee, coordinating the identification, analysis, and monitoring of strategic and operational risks, and providing regular reports on emerging risks to the Executive Leadership Team. Maintaining the Ministry's internal assurance program, you will lead its development and ensure proper monitoring and reporting on overall assurance activities.
You will commission and undertake assurance work as per the agreed annual plan and develop training programs to uplift the capability of our people leaders in risk and assurance. Supporting investigations or advisory engagements of sensitive nature, you will provide leadership and management for projects, ensuring strategic and tactical approaches are taken to achieve results. By fostering collaborative relationships across various stakeholders, you will contribute to the Ministry's desired culture and values within the group while upholding equity and Treaty of Waitangi obligations. Ultimately, you will ensure the team delivers high-quality work in a timely manner and keep the Group Manager informed of any emerging risks and pressures.

Ko ngā pukenga ōu - What You'll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Desirable membership in a relevant professional body.
- Demonstrated senior-level management experience in assurance, audit management, or risk management within the public sector.
- Expertise in promoting and educating risk and internal control management practices across all organizational levels, with the ability to assess risks associated with assurance assignments.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of risk and assurance frameworks, models, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proven ability to build trust and engage senior leaders through personal advocacy, vision, drive, and collaborative work.
