Senior Experience Designer

So, who are we after?
We are looking for a talented Senior Experience Designer to join the award-winning team at Colenso in Auckland. A passionate, motivated individual who enjoys crafting innovative digital experiences through UX design methodology.
As our Senior Experience Designer, you'll help provide solutions, improve usability, accessibility, and joy associated with a digital product or interactive experiences. Enthusiastic, creative and insightful, you'll enjoy researching, designing, testing and iterating solutions as part of the wider digital team and have the opportunity to explore, learn and grow.

What you will do day-to-day
- Lead the user experience design of products and services for global and local clients.
- Have a depth of knowledge on user experience and the ability to execute projects from user research through to wireframe and testing.
- Confidently design and facilitate design thinking workshops
- Identify key opportunity areas in order to improve, elevate or completely reimagine customer experiences
- Conduct user research and testing - present back findings to internal team members and clients
- Know how to leverage audience targets, analytics data, digital trends, user behaviours, competitive audits, and user experience evaluations to inform experience design
- Develop wireframes and task flows based on user needs
- Collaborate with Designers and Developers to create intuitive creative experiences
- Understand a diverse range of Human Centred tools and techniques to be applied to projects at differing points in their progression
- Provide detailed design and/or research and UX leadership on client initiatives
- Prepare and present concepts to internal teams and key stakeholders

What you will bring
- A good understanding of all the tools and techniques available (specific expertise with using Figma)
- Experience with UX leadership or mentoring
- Familiarity with interaction design and information architecture
- Excellent at documenting and describing interactive concepts
- Can sketch up quick concepts to present, test, iterate and refine
- A good understanding of design systems, pattern libraries and brand guidelines
- Demonstrated experience in leading user research, from exploratory ethnography through to usability testing
- Interest in and aptitude for working with data and technology
- Is able to use their own creative skills to communicate ideas and concepts to others
- Uses research to provide rationale, inspiration and insights
- A basic understanding of development process is a plus

If you don't know or have experience across all of the above, that's OK. We'd be expecting someone curious with the drive to pick these skills up.

Working with the team
The Experience Designer role is within a team that includes designers, producers, animators, developers and creatives who champion the needs and behaviour of the end user, with whom you will work closely throughout. You will work with the wider creative team to ensure that the original creative vision is successfully realised and to advise on where changes can and should be made.
Together you will create solutions that are innovative and intuitive, exciting and friendly, surprising and delightful, playful and responsive, clever and appropriate.
