**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**

As an Intermediate Service Designer, primary responsibilities will be to support key, future focused, innovation and design initiatives that deliver significant sustained benefit in organisation performance.

This is role enables you to work on very meaningful, impactful and complex service design projects that will directly impact patient, whānau and staff outcomes. Along with more senior team members, you will use your design experience to uncover root causes of problems, communicate and design with diverse stakeholders, and understand the complexity of the context your solutions will operate within, to steward their success.

**Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills**
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Service Design and quality improvement roles
- Have experience in, or a keen interest in developing emerging technology and other non-technical novel innovations
- Must be accustomed to user-centric design methods and best practices
- A good understanding of the fundamentals of Service Design and how the discipline is used to create business and customer value
- Knowledge of appropriate human-centred tools and techniques to elicit understanding, communicate progress, create and validate solutions (e.g. Design Thinking, Service Blueprints, Journey and Process Mapping)
- You have contributed to, or show a keen interest in designing equitable outcomes for all, and are focused on diversity, ethics, equity, accessibility and indigeneity in your work
- Good problem definition and articulation - challenging assumptions and 'pre-set' thinking around solutions, agreeing the purpose, principles and vision
- You have high emotional intelligence (EQ) and compassion for others
- You're a natural when it comes to collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure proposed solutions balance user needs, organisational strategy and resource constraints
- Good communicator and diligent with writing up your work and developing handover material

We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.
