Mō te tūnga | About the role
Resilience to Organised Crime in Communities (ROCC) is a multi-agency approach supporting locally-led responses to organised crime. ROCC combines a community resilience prevention approach with targeted enforcement to simultaneously address the harms and drivers of organised crime.
This newly created Senior Advisor role provides a unique opportunity to strengthen the delivery and sustainability of the ROCC programme across multiple districts. The role is designed to provide flexible, strategic, and operational support where demand is highest, ensuring continuity, capability-building, and consistent delivery across ROCC locations.
As a Senior Advisor, you will work across Police, government agencies, iwi/hapū, community providers, and lived experience to coordinate and enable community-led solutions. You will also contribute to the development of strategic artefacts, training, mentoring, and coaching to support the operationalisation of the ROCC approach.
**Nga kawenga / Key Accountabilities**:
Provide agile, responsive support across ROCC locations as required.
Support the operationalisation of the ROCC approach through in-person engagement, travel, and coordination with district teams.
Deliver mentoring, coaching, and onboarding support for new team members to build capability and ensure consistent practice.
Contribute to the development of strategic artefacts, training materials, and practice guidance.
Provide continuity during periods of leave across the team or increased operational pressure.
Support the team to meet ministerial expectations, including contributing to reporting, coordinating ministerial visits, and responding to Official Information Act (OIA) requests.
Collaborate with other Senior Advisors and district leads to ensure alignment and consistency across the ROCC programme.
He aha taau e kawe mai | What you’ll bring
Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others.
Proven experience in project management and stakeholder coordination within complex, multi-agency environments, ideally in a public sector or community context.
Strong understanding of community-led approaches and ROCCs operational context, with the ability to translate strategy into delivery.
Deep understanding of and experience working alongside Māori, including iwi/hapū and whānau, underpinned by cultural competence and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Ability to work collaboratively with other ROCC Senior Advisors, including taking direction where needed, to support shared goals and deliverables. This role requires a team-first mindset, with the ability to step in and provide support across districts when operational demands exceed local capacity.
Ability to work autonomously and flexibly across multiple districts, managing competing priorities and delivering in a fast-paced setting.
Skilled in mentoring, coaching, and capability-building, particularly in supporting new staff.
Strategic thinker with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver clear, high-quality advice and briefings.
