We are looking for a Park Ranger to join the team out in the picturesque Omana Regional Park. This is for a 6 month fixed term contract.

As a Park Ranger, you will be responsible for enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation experiences in regional park settings, while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage resources.

You will be part of a small team covering Omana, Duder and Waitawa Regional Parks. As a Ranger in the Southern Regional Parks team, you will have a varied role and will be required to work a roster system that includes some weekends and public holidays. This will include responding to emergency calls after hours when you are rostered as a duty ranger.

Your day to day your duties may include:

- Managing recreational activities, including undertaking asset and track maintenance using plant and machinery.
- Undertaking and supporting conservation programmes across parks, including animal and plant pest management, and revegetation projects.
- Managing and supporting volunteers and external stakeholders.
- Overseeing and auditing contractors.
- Visitor liaison duties such as campgrounds and visitor arrival areas.
- Support the farming operations on park.
- Opportunities to work across the wider southern parks network.

Have a strong background as a Park Ranger, or equivalent experience and education in outdoor recreation, asset maintenance, conservation, ecology or biosecurity management; experience in community engagement and learning is also highly sought after.

- Be able to undertake the ongoing physical demands of the role.

A current NZ full driver's licence is essential for this position and ability to drive manual and 4wd is highly desirable.
