Located on the picturesque Eastern Institute of Technology campus in Taradale, Napier, ttara Childrens Centre caters for staff and students of EIT as well as the wider Taradale community. An opportunity awaits for you to join our teaching team, where you will work collaboratively with other kaiako to provide an environment that supports children to be competent, confident learners and communicators.
We are currently seeking one kaiako for our over 2s room and one kaiako for our under 2s room. **Ideally, both positions will be full time however, there is some flexibility to negotiate reduced hours.**
In this role you will assist in ensuring that:
- the early childhood setting offers a professional service and maintains high quality standards where all statutory requirements are met
- the provision of quality curriculum in accordance with Te Whriki, the Centre philosophy and other guiding documents
- children and whnau feel valued and respected
The ideal applicants will have:
- a provisional or full teaching certification
- a thorough knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements
- a sound working knowledge of Te Whriki
- some knowledge of te ao Mori
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- an ability to work collaboratively
- a growth mindset and an ability to cope with change
If successful, you will be supported to:
- maintain your teaching certification (paid for by the Centre) through engagement in the Professional Growth Cycle
- grow and learn as a teacher with plenty of PLD opportunities
- follow your interests and strengths as you design and implement an effective curriculum alongside your team
ttara Childrens Centre is a member of the ECECA and as such, excellent leave provisions apply. We currently offer pay parity up to Step 6 of the NZKA pay scale and we are committed to lobbying the government to make extended pay parity for ECE teachers a reality.
