The New Zealand Parole Board (NZPB) is an independent statutory body. Its members consist of current or former judges and community members. The Board holds thousands of hearings a year. The role of the NZPB is to make public safety decisions about the managed release of long-term prisoners. The paramount consideration in every case is the safety of the community.
Ara Poutama Aotearoa (the Department of Corrections) provides operational and administrative services to support the Board in its crucial role.
The Senior Adviser will support the General Manager NZPB, and the NZPB administrative support team, to achieve our vision of providing quality support services that the New Zealand Parole Board, Ara Poutama Aotearoa, victims, people appearing before the board, whānau and the public have trust and confidence in.
In this role you'll be involved in every aspect of a complex and busy environment. Your daily activities could include managing enquiries from the public and Board correspondence, responding to Official Information Act requests and supporting the induction of new team members. You'll also be the first point of contact for external Board members ensuring the processes that support them in their role are functioning smoothly. The ability to manage relationships in a positive and effective way is essential.
As a key member of the NZPB team, you will be motivated by the opportunity to support the General Manager and leadership team in every aspect of their roles and enhance the Parole Board support function. You'll bring a resilient and confident presence to this role as the “go to” person for both the NZPB leadership team and Board Members.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $108,180 and the full range (85%-120%) is $91,953 - $129,816. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
