**Minimum Hours work per week**: 40 hours

Our Wellington branch is growing, and we have the following position available**:Team Leader - Ecological Restoration**. You will need to have the ability to lead and work within a team, be physically fit and a good communicator and have a love for Aotearoa’s natural areas.
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree in conservation biology, environmental science, or forestry.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in ecological restoration and pest mammal control.
- Knowledge and understanding of the local environmental legislations.
- Knowledge of NZ’s native and invasive flora, pest plant control and revegetation.
- A high level of physical fitness and passion for working in challenging outdoors.
- Experience in leading or managing teams would be a strong advantage.
- Experience in planning, organising, and coordinating operational plans is preferred.

If selected for the role, your key job responsibilities would include the following:

- Lead the team in carrying out Ecological Restoration practices in accordance with the SOP requirements and Health & Safety practices to meet the client requirements.
- Provide leadership to the team to enable them to work to job brief and SOP requirements and ultimately take responsibility for the quality of their results.
- Delegate tasks to enable efficient and effective completion of job requirements and facilitate training opportunities.
- Responsible for leading and managing the Health & Safety requirements for the team.
- Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
- Lead and participate in safe work planning, identifying hazards, assessing risks, and develop recommendations for corrective actions.
- Liaise as necessary to keep clients up to date with job progress and keep appropriate senior staff up to date with communications.
- Carry out ecological restoration in line with relevant SOPs, as and when necessary.
- Train new staff in appropriate ecological restoration methodologies in line with best practice SOPs.
- Use GPS to record tracklogs and point data in line with SOPs and client specifications.
- Undertake daily and weekly work planning of the team(s) to ensure efficient and timely delivery of work programs.
- Manage onsite operation of teams, with scheduling of breaks appropriately.
- Follow job briefs to adhere to client requirements and company’s best practice while ensuring adherence to resource allocations and efficiencies to meet client expectations.
- Liaise with senior staff regarding job progress and awareness of any issues on the ground.
- Keep an accurate account of hours and agrichemicals used on a daily basis.
- Ensure safe storage of agrichemical stocks and adequate supplies for programmed works.
- Ensure all equipment are maintained daily and readily available for programmed works.
- Ensure all checklists and job-specific forms are completed within the required timeframes.
