**Tenei turanga - About the Role**:
The Internal Assurance team provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services to enable MBIE to deliver on its strategic objectives and meets its obligations.

As the Assurance Advisor you support the team in the delivery of internal assurance reviews from planning through to fieldwork, coordination and reporting, collaborating with other teams to gather information, understand areas of risk and assess compliance. You will also work with the Internal Assurance Practice Lead and Head of Internal Assurance to build and enhance the overall capability of the team to ensure the quality and consistency of advice and practices in relation to its work.

In this role, a key expectation is a willingness to learn and develop a thorough understanding of best practice assurance frameworks and processes, and stay updated on industry trends opportunities will be provided for on the job training and professional development.

The Assurance Advisor is a pathway position, responsible for supporting the Internal Assurance team to analyse, monitor and to report internal audit activity, performance and associated risks to senior managers, SLT and MBIE's Risk and Advisory Committee.

- Demonstrated ability to analyse data, identify patters, and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Capability to assess processes and identify inconsistencies or risks.
- Exposure to business processes, internal controls, or project management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, demonstrated through experience supporting reviews and producing high quality reports.
- Proven ability to build strong working relationships with peers, senior managers and staff at all levels.
- Proven ability to think independently and influence others by expressing ideas clearly and succinctly.
- Can-do attitude and a high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion.
- Well organised with the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Welcomes and values diversity and contributes to an inclusive working environment where differences are acknowledged and respected.
- A basic knowledge and understanding of the Public Finance Act (and Government operating mechanisms) and the Institute of Internal Auditor's Professional Standards.
- A degree in a relevant field such as accounting, finance, management or a related area.
- Experience in data analysis would be advantageous.
