We have dedicated teams of Designers, Field Technicians and Civil works crews. We use the latest technology and high-quality machinery to provide civil, utilities and underground services.

The role:
We are looking for civil workers, preferably with Fibre Build Technician experience, to join our Christchurch team. As a civil Fibre Build Technician you will carry out tasks and civil works required for fibre installation as well as remedial work ensuring quality works are completed to industry and Civtec's standards.

You will be responsible for the following:

- Installation of fibre optic duct as per client standards
- Install fibre optic, Category 6 Structured Cable Distribution Systems.
- Perform OTDR testing from T500 cabinets.
- Splicing on 144 fibre cable and managing the cables at the pit
- Perform site surveys. Assess and document current site network configuration and user requirements.
- Support with coordination of the design, analysis and installation process.
- Use of all installation equipment and hand tools. E.g. grundomat, terrasaw, slot cutter
- Pothole by hand or using machines for location of existing services
- Installation of outlets, pulling cable and per-termination including organising, forming, dressing and labelling cables to industry standards.
- Installs, maintains/repairs, and tests on build projects.
- Diagnostics of faults in cabling and/or in equipment.
- Accurately test fibre (multi-mode and single mode) cable to required certification.
- Connects fibre optic cables to network outlets.
- Attend sites where faults have been recorded, investigate cause of fault and undertake repair wherever possible.
- The repair method may include fibre blowing, digging, jointing, or any other approved repair method.
- Hauling and blowing fibre and micro duct/ribbonet jointing
- Basic reinstatement of earth works.
- Undertake any other tasks to support the overall Civtec business as required from time to time.
- Ensure the site is always safe for the public and staff.
- Ensure compliance with Civtec, Worksafe and client standards.
