Security and Traffic Operator

**ABOUT THE ROLE | Te tūranga mahi**

The purpose of this position is to provide efficient and accurate gatehouse services, assist with traffic control, and support the Traffic Management team in escorting vehicles and personnel. This includes managing vehicle escorts, controlling traffic for project works, incidents, exercises, and other operational requirements. Additionally, the position involves driving a security van to provide personnel transport and support security staff across the port, ensuring the smooth operation of both security and traffic functions.

**WHAT YOU NEED | Ngā pūkenga me whēako**
- Full New Zealand Driver's License
- Strong understanding of security and traffic management within a port or similar high-traffic environment.
- Ability to navigate and manage complex operational systems, including vehicle and pedestrian traffic flows.
- Familiarity with port-specific health and safety regulations, with a strong focus on risk management and safety compliance.
- Excellent situational awareness to respond quickly and effectively to potential security or traffic incidents.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, to coordinate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including port staff, security personnel, and external authorities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different shifts and respond to changing operational demands.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset for troubleshooting operational issues and enhancing workflow efficiency.
- Confidence in working with various security systems, technology, and equipment used in a port setting.
