**About the Role**

Te Whatu Ora Taranaki, Child and Adolescent Community Centre (CACC) is seeking an Occupational Therapist to work with a mutli-disciplinary team that includes, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapists, Social Workers, Therapy Assistants and Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists.

CACC is the hub for community child health providing clinics for children with medical, developmental, disability and mental health needs. Child health clinics are also held around the maunga for rural families to access. The Child Therapy team travel across Taranaki to provide services to children and families, in their homes, as well as providing some social and group activities either at home or in the CACC therapy rooms.

The role of an Occupational Therapist:

- To work with children from the age of 3 to 16 years.
- Children with a known disability or at risk of developing a disability which will last longer than 6 months.
- Provide therapy to children at home, school and preschools as well as therapy sessions individually or as part of a group setting at CACC.
- Identify and support housing modifications and equipment for children and families and work with Enable NZ funding.
- Work closely with Paediatricians, Physiotherapists, and Speech Language Therapist to complete Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessments, for when starting day care / school, routines at home / school and support family/ main carer to provide best care for their child.

Although it is a small team, the child therapy team work closely and support each other to provide excellent care to children and families.

**About You**

We are seeking Occupational Therapists new graduate or experience to have a passion or desire to work with children and young people and work as part of a team.

If you are an experienced therapist then ideally you will have previous experience of working in paediatrics or some transferable skills from working with adults. Experience in housing/equipment would be an advantage.

If you are a new graduate this is part of our hospital rotation programme and rotation includes CACC, Rural hospital / community, ART/ARTHA team (ED/Community) and inpatient setting (Acute wards - ICU, Medical, Ortho/Surgical and Rehab)

You will need:
- Occupational Therapy Registration/current APC
- Be eligible to work in NZ
- The ability to undertake assessments and work collaboratively with others to provide integrated care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Community knowledge or networking skills
- Eager to learn and active participant in self-directed learning with support from senior staff
