**The opportunity**

A great opportunity for a Public Health Medicine Registrar to work nationally with the key networks involved in strategic planning, policy, communication, and services delivery related to all aspects of the national immunisation programme, including COVID-19 vaccination programmes. You will work as part of an experienced academic and service delivery team who have extensive experience in translational research related to many aspects of Vaccine Preventable Diseases, immunisation coverage and equity.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for those wishing to develop or enhance skills across a broad range of immunisation issues facing New Zealand at present, including the current COVID-19 pandemic**. **It is also a requirement for you to be on the NZ Public Health Medicine training scheme.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Support IMAC's activities in supporting the national immunisation programme in improving national vaccine coverage and equity with the objective of achieving relevant Public Health medical competencies.
- Work with our team of clinicians, educators, and researchers on a wide range of projects including research, strategy, policy training, education and training materials.
- Provide medical and public health skills, research, and advice in relation to immunisation and detection, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

**Your skills and experience**:
It is essential for you to hold:

- MBChB qualified (or equivalent), with a current practising certificate issued by the New Zealand Medical Council
- A knowledge of the theory of epidemiology and experience in conducting epidemiological analysis
- Sound clinical knowledge of vaccine-preventable diseases
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write and talk about clinical issues clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal skills

Since 1997 the **Immunisation Advisory Centre** (IMAC) has been serving New Zealand as a local source of independent, evidence-based information regarding vaccine-preventable diseases and immunisation. In addition to providing national strategic and policy advice, it educates New Zealand's vaccinators, conducts research and provides clinical standards and engagement opportunities for health professionals in the sector. IMAC is operated by UniServices and based at the Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland.
