This job is a designed for a RANZCOG Advanced Trainee who is looking to sub-specialise or develop a special interest in Maternal Fetal Medicine towards the completion of
their FRANZCOG training.
Wellington Hospital is host to the NZ Maternal Fetal Medicine Network. As such a national and integrative approach to MFM is a core strength.
RMO salaries are calculated based on relevant previous years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out in the relevant run description. For the current salary bands, please refer to either the Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (SToNZ) or Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) Collective Employment Agreements.

- Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who are enrolled as a RANZCOG Advanced Trainee and are looking to sub-specialise or develop a special interest in Maternal Fetal Medicine
- RMOs wishing to undertake the Diagnostic Diploma of Ultrasound are welcome.
- Must have completed FRANZCOG part 1 and be close to completion of their FRANZCOG training;

**Wellington Regional and Kenepuru Hospitals**
- The Women - s Health Service is dedicated to ensuring excellence in Obstetric and Gynaecological care. We work as one team to provide tertiary and secondary obstetrics and gynaecology care and primary obstetrics. The service provides an integrated mix of inpatient/outpatient/day patient and domiciliary services.
- Gynaecology surgery is undertaken at both Wellington and Kenepuru Hospital and clinics are delivered at Wellington, Kenepuru and Kāpiti Health Centre. We provide a gynaecology oncology (GO) centre for the Central Region with outreach clinics and weekly regional MDMs.
- With around 3,600 births per year there is ample opportunity for our SHOs to gain experience in the full spectrum of obstetric care from ante-natal to post-natal at Wellington. Primary maternity birthing units (midwifery led) are based at Kenepuru Hospital and Kāpiti Health Centre.
- Ambulatory services include a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound service to support our tertiary maternal foetal medicine service, gynaecologic oncology, Women - s Health Acute assessment service and a wide range of outpatient Obstetric and Gynaecological services. There is a regional counselling and termination of pregnancy service.
- The Women - s Health Service provides a regular registrar training programme including subspecialty multidisciplinary meetings like Gynae-Oncology, MFM and Perinatal Mortality. Experienced support and great training is provided by a dynamic and dedicated team. Our training programme received RANZCOG re-accreditation across all areas in 2018 with a number of commendations. For the training year 2026 we will be offering two runs specifically designed to be suitable for completing requirements of RANZCOG advanced training modules (ATM) in general gynaecology and general obstetrics.
**Hutt Valley Hospital**
- Is a busy 260-bed facility covering Lower Hutt and Upper Hutt cities. We provide care for an ethnically diverse population of 139,000 people and Hutt Hospital supports 1,800 births and performs over 500 elective gynaecological procedures per annum. Our SCBU cares for babies over 32 weeks and Wellington is our Tertiary referral centre. Hutt is situated just 15 minutes - drive from downtown Wellington, our vibrant capital city.
- The team in Hutt consists of 7 Senior Medical Officers, 8 registrars, 2 SHOs and 1 HO. Each registrar is assigned to the SMO according to their skill set and request. The RMOs will get exposure to good surgical skill sets which include Pelvic floor repairs and advanced laparoscopic surgery. The RMOs can complete their Colposcopy assessments in the unit. We will also be offering a run which will be suitable to complete RANZCOG advanced training module in General Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The ITP supervisor liaises with the RMOs on regular basis to get feedback from and to ensure that the Department is catering to the needs of the RMOs to the best of their ability.
- In Obstetrics, the unit manages significantly high risk women with co-morbidities from diverse ethnicities and socio-economic status.
