Product Specification Engineer

Our Client “Vynco Industries”, are a leading distributor of electrical components both within New Zealand and abroad. Vynco represents a range of innovative home brands through to leading international brands and has an extensive sales force based throughout New Zealand.
They have an exciting opportunity for a Product Specification Engineer to join their dynamic and innovative R&D team. This role will facilitate the commercially successful delivery of new imported product to market. This will include the review of product specification, features, installation, and suitability for the NZ market.
This is a hands on role, researching new products, putting together accurate and relevant technical documentation and requires a great communicator to get the marketing and sales team onboard to take these new products to the market.
To be successful in this role you must be / have.
- Relevant degree and/or qualification and experience
- Solid understand of electrical industry and installation practices in NZ and Australia
- Comfortable conducting hands-on testing of electronic products and providing analysis of features and performance
- Analytical and strategic thinking
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Office, and relevant software packages
- Target driven with the ability to work to, and set, timely performance goals with clear objectives
- Proven ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with sensitive commercial or personal information
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Product research
- Testing and compliance
- Analysis of competitor products and new product samples
- Identifying the relevant industry and safety standards
- Collating and maintaining accurate specification records for all product ranges
- Prepare draft installation instructions and technical specifications
- Reviewing existing written procedures for the R&D team
- Creation and maintenance of product specifications and related documentation
- Support the communication of new product developments to the sales team
