- **12-month **fixed-term position available to cover incumbent while on leave.
- Based in Hamilton central.
- Creating an environment for the successful delivery of key projects and work programmes.

**Accountable for providing oversight of the monitoring programme work**:

- To operate and maintain our hydrology network (including telemetry) with a key focus on a resilient river level and rainfall flood warning system.
- Air quality monitoring to meet NES requirements.
- Support sea level and coastal meteorological monitoring.
- Managing monitoring site asset maintenance and construction.
- Operating river level, flow and rainfall networks in accordance with the National Environmental Monitoring Standards (NEMS).
- To support and grow the skills of the team especially those undertaking the NZ hydrology diploma.
- A strong focus on ensuring our staff come home safely every day through your leadership and management of our safety systems and culture.
- Contributing to strategy development and work programme planning as part of the leadership team.

**Mō te tangata | About you**
- Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with others to achieve our monitoring goals.
- Comfortable providing advice and making decisions to achieve results, sometimes with limited information.
- A desire to learn in a management capacity.

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant science discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience in hydrology. Desirable to have team leader experience.
- Proven knowledge and understanding of hydrological monitoring methods, processing and systems (data aquisition, remote sites power options and telemetry).
- Project management experience desirable.
- Existing management experience desired but not essential.
- Proven experience in work planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills - written and verbal.
