**About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
As a Data Engineer you will be instrumental in solving complex problems, delivering razor sharp data insights and machine learning models that ultimately have high impact for stakeholders across our business. Our data engineering capability vary from building, manipulating and optimising our data to building data pipelines and productionising machine learning models
Our aim is to be a world class data driven retailer creating the best experiences for our customers through insight and analytics led decisions. There is no limit to the exposure you will gain working across the various departments of our business and therefore no limit to your ongoing learning and development.
Some of the aspects of the role:
- Building the data solutions using the stack of GCP (BigQuery), dbt, Terraform, Airflow, Vertex AI, Python, GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Contributing and championing data engineering practices and standards
- Contributing to the solution architecture and review of tools/patterns
- Contributing to the development of data engineering capability
- Be open to experiment with new tools and techniques
**About You | Mōu
You must be competent in dealing with large volumes of data and be passionate about the influence and value you will create. You will need to understand the importance of managing our data assets in a high integrity environment where we always strive to do the right thing, for our customers, our partners and our team. Whether you love - design, technology, engineering, constant learning, and have skills such as Python,ETL CI/CD and SQL, you will be in a tight knit and supportive community that cares for your career development.
What will you bring:
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
- Advanced knowledge of SQL and preferably Python
- Experience with delivering data pipelines and possibly managing resources on Google Cloud Platform (desired) or other Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
- Basic understanding of data modelling and data warehousing design principles
- Experience with git, CI/CD, workflow orchestration tools
- Desire to learn and teach others
- Curiosity, excellent work ethic and team oriented mindset
Ideally you would also have:
- Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
- Experience using dbt as a transformational tool in professional environments
- Experience of designing data engineering solutions
