**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.
We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and Hauora Maori Service colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.
The Principal Advisor, Commissioning Business Services is responsible for providing high quality information and advice in support of the work programmes in commissioning. The Principal Advisor, Commissioning Business Services acts as the main conduit between Commissioning and key personnel in the Office of the Chief Executive, liaising directly on Ministerial briefings and communications. The Principal Advisor, Commissioning Business Services will be working as a right hand to the Regional Internal Business Planning Lead, and the Group Manager, Office of the Regional Wayfinder, and will be open to mentoring others in the team.
**This role is based in the Central Region, which is made up of Mid-Central, Whanganui, Capital & Coast Hutt Valley (Wellington Region), Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā weako | Skills and experience**
- Previous experience working in government and a thorough understanding of the machinery of Government.
- Experience with OIAs, PQs.
- Previous experience working at a principal level, with a policy background.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences.
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, unambiguous, and robust advice, papers, and reports.
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.
- Experience in developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships internally and externally, across various groups, including at a senior level.
