Ventia are currently seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ advisor to join our team based in Auckland.
**ABOUT THE ROLE**
This is an exciting role that will be supporting our Auckland Council contract.
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will be working closely with the Operational team and various stakeholders and will be responsible for providing advise on and promoting health and safety compliance and culture activities across the contract, ensuring that all reasonably practicable steps are taken to enhance wellbeing and safety of our team, our contracts, and our customers.
The focus of this role will be to work proactively with Managers, Team Leaders, and Supervisors to develop, deploy and continuously improve the organisation's health and safety management system. You will assist in the promotion of behaviours and practices to ensure team members work together towards maintaining a safe working environment.
You will be expected to be a systems expert and have strong technical skills.
This will suit a hands-on Safety Advisor who is able to work with a variety of people across all levels, able to influence stakeholders, and drive change.
**Some other key responsibilities include**:
- Assist with development, implementation and monitoring of environmental strategies and action plans to achieve the SHEQ objectives and targets
- Assist the business to maintain compliance with Health and Safety legislation and management system best practice
- Provide consistent, accurate, and reliable SHEQ advice to the contract.
- Oversee the contract SHEQ risk registers across all groups, to ensure all risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and reviewed so that they can be reported upon.
- Assist with the development and roll out of SHEQ continuous improvement programs and ensure the content is delivered effectively
- Assist in the identification and reporting of SHEQ risks and facilitate the achievement of SHEQ best practice and risk minimisation across the business
- Assist in incident investigations as appropriate including the review of incident reports to ensure best practice and compliance with legislation and contractual requirements
- Manage the Health and Safety approved contractors list and any associated updates and develop relationships with suppliers/approved contractors to ensure their continued compliance with Ventia H&S procedures and applicable legislation
- Assist with SHEQ reporting (both internal and external).
- Assist with other duties as reasonably required by the SHEQ Manager.
**ABOUT YOU**
They will need to have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a sound knowledge of environmental standards, legislation, and regulatory requirements.
Their ability to problem solve, prioritise workload, and high professional standards, with strong attention to detail is key to the success of this role.
**Other key requirements**
- At least three years relevant experience in New Zealand
- Full Class 1 driver’s licence
