We are looking for an experienced HR Practitioner who thrives in a complex ER environment, to make their mark working alongside Residences and Sites in Canterbury and the Upper South.

Mō te tūnga | About the role
As part of the South team, you will be working with a group of seven Regional Senior HR Advisors and have responsibility for mentoring and coaching an HR Advisor. Your primary focus is to build strong relationships with the leadership teams of our Youth Residences and Senior site leadership teams. Based in Christchurch Regional office you will be comfortable engaging via electronic mediums and in person. Your role will encompass providing high quality advice and support of complex ER cases, developing line manager capability, supporting managers with best practice HR solutions and the delivery of relevant and practical HR tools, frameworks and guidelines.
You will also work alongside an exceptional, supportive & knowledgeable team with access to specialist ER support, ongoing training and a proactive development plan and career opportunities within a large organisation.
We work in a highly unionised environment and our Senior HR Advisors work on complex cases that will expand your employment relations knowledge and capability; taking your skills in this space to the next level; setting you up for any work environment.
Some travel within the region and New Zealand will be required.

**Key requirements of the role include**:
- Strong employment relations experience and NZ legislative knowledge;
- Experience building engagement with your managers, coaching and assisting them with ER matters and building capability in this area as well as other generalist HR areas;
- Ability to grasp complex organisational issues to contribute effective solutions to drive organisation success;
- An inclusive and approachable working style as well as patience and agility to navigate the youth residence environment;
- Experience operating independently, while still ensuring you are connected to the wider HR and People and Leadership team;
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture.
