**Nga kawenga | About the role**

As Manager (ER) Pay and Employment Equity, your team sits within the People & Capability Group and is responsible for leading on the development and implementation of the Department's remuneration and pay equity strategies, and for work in support of our complex employment relations and collective bargaining environment. You will also work closely with senior leaders and will have strong working relationships with unions and key stakeholders, such as the Public Service Commission.

Specifically, you and your team will oversee all aspects of our pay systems including the annual remuneration review for applicable staff, implementing outcomes from collective bargaining in relation to pay, work on pay equity and pay equity claims, and provide advice and recommendations to our Executive Leadership Team and Chief Executive. Your work is strongly guided by the current Government Workforce Standards and Pay Expectations. You will also monitor trends, benchmark best practices, and offer thought leadership on contemporary remuneration strategies. This is a role that requires you to deliver within the guidance and legislative framework taking practical, pragmatic and constructive approach to various issues and solutions.

This is a high-impact role that requires both strategic oversight and 'hands-on' work to drive fair and sustainable pay outcomes. You will be a highly skilled and technically proficient remuneration and pay equity expert who thrives in a complex and evolving environment. You will have a deep understanding of pay equity legislation, salary structures, and employment relations with strong experience in collective bargaining and union engagement. This role requires an exceptional resilient leader with experience managing high-performing teams, and the ability to navigate complex and varied issues and stakeholder relationships, with confidence.

- Strategic ER/HR experience in the Public Sector, with the ability to effectively shift between thought leadership and turning concepts into tangible actions.
- Experience in remuneration frameworks and pay equity claims (and the respective legislation, Government Expectations that underpins these).
- Experience working constructively with unions on significant people initiatives, including helping the parties identify common interests and navigate differing perspectives.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
- A proven ability to influence, guide, and coach senior leaders and specialists to achieve aligned outcomes.
- The ability to get things done using a well-planned and executed approach, ensuring initiatives are delivered effectively and on time.

**Utu a-tau | Salary**

The midpoint of the salary range is $175,134 and the full range (85%-120%) is $148,864 - $210,161. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
