About our group and team Te Puna Ohumahi Mātauranga - Education Workforce is a key part of the Ministry. We develop the education workforce strategy, including a focus on specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, education payroll, supply and scholarship functions. Our group ensures the system has the right people in the right places at the right time for early learning, kōhanga reo, schools and kura. We have links to tertiary education organisations, in particular wānanga, iwi and Māori, peak bodies and others, in the co-design of solutions to workforce challenges, such as provision of teachers with te reo and mātauranga Māori knowledge and Pacific languages. About Pay Equity The Pay Equity team is responsible for investigating and settling education sector pay equity claims. This is done in accordance with the State Sector Pay Equity Claims Framework and the requirements of the Equal Pay Act. Pay equity means that people are paid equally for doing work of equal value. It acknowledges the value of the skills, responsibilities and demands of workers in female dominated occupations that have suffered from gender-based discrimination because of perceptions and prejudices about the value of "women's work". Mō tēnei tūranga - About this role The Employment Relations Lead, Pay Equity takes a lead role within the Pay Equity team and ensures the Ministry's employment relations approach to pay equity is well-informed, integrated with other Ministry work programmes and is well implemented. This will involve making a significant contribution to related work programmes, coaching and mentoring of other team members. You will also be responsible to contribute in quality control of policy and other work through participation in peer review, policy appraisal and discussion issues. Mōhou ake - About you To be successful in this role, you will have advanced experience and skills in industrial advocacy, and directly relevant work areas which could include HR management, project management, policy analysis, and payroll management. **You will also have the following**: - Strong relationship management skills and natural ability to engage in a collaborative approach - Experience developing and implementing strategies and plans that encompass a broad spectrum of communications activities - The ability to work across a number of workstreams and operate in an ever-changing environment You will have the opportunity to contribute to the investigation and settlement of major Pay Equity claims within the education sector Kua rite koe mō tēnei mahi? - Are you ready to make a difference?
