Auckland City, New Zealand Financial Markets Authority Full time

**A great place to work. With great work to do.**

Ours is a meaningful and impactful role, as a kaitiaki (caretaker) of the financial services in Aotearoa. We oversee a market that does right by everyone, ensuring better outcomes for all New Zealanders. Our role as a kaitiaki is brought to life by our values; Look to the Horizon, Help the Team Work, Make the Calls and Open Hearts, Open Minds.

**Te Tūranga | The role**

We’re looking for a strategic and people-focused leader to join us as Manager, Data & Intelligence. This is a key leadership role within our Data & Analytics function, responsible for driving the development, performance and implementation of data and intelligence strategies that support the FMA’s regulatory and strategic objectives.

You’ll lead a high-performing team of Data Analysts, working across the organisation to deliver insights that inform policy, regulatory decisions, and strategic direction. You’ll partner closely with the Head of Data & Analytics and collaborate with teams across the FMA to embed data-driven thinking and enhance our regulatory effectiveness.

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape how data and intelligence are used to support our objective of promoting fair, efficient, and transparent financial markets. You’ll champion innovation in data practices, foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and as a practitioner, have the opportunity to get involved with data projects yourself.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Setting objectives, delegating, and empowering your team to deliver on the Data & Intelligence strategy through coaching, support and performance management.
- Overseeing the creation and maintenance of comprehensive data products and reports that provide actionable insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuously seek out and implement improvements in data collection, analysis, and reporting methodologies to enhance the effectiveness of the Data & Intelligence function.

**He kōrero mōu | About you**

You will be an experienced leader in data analytics, with a strong track record of turning complex data into actionable insights. You’ll be comfortable designing and delivering data strategies that support organisational goals and able to communicate with senior stakeholders in a clear and compelling way.

As a practitioner, you’ll love being able to get involved in projects alongside your team. You bring a strategic mindset, excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and a collaborative leadership style that empowers and develops your team.

Coming from a financial services background isn’t necessary but ideally, you’ll have a good understanding of regulatory environments. A tertiary qualification in statistics or data science would be advantageous.

**Ngā**painga**| What we offer**

We offer some great benefits including a 4% KiwiSaver contribution, health and life insurance cover, paid leave over the Christmas period, a generous $1,500 refer a friend bonus as well as an ability to swap public holiday leave with other days that mean more to you. Additionally, we have exceptional learning and development opportunities including access to leadership development, technical training, and external coaching.

At the FMA we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic self to work each day. We offer a range of wellness and social activities designed to support our people with aspects of their personal and professional lives and genuinely connect with their colleagues.
