**Starting salary**: $95,000 - 120,000 negotiable + superannuation

Te tūnga | The role
This role is 12 - 18 months fixed term based in our National Office in Wellington. Reporting to the Chief of Staff within the Office of the Chief Executive, you will work within the newly established Governance and Accountability team, which provides support to ERO's senior leadership. You'll have significant input into how we deliver on our government, governance, and public service responsibilities, and build strong relationships with senior leaders and advisors across the entire organisation.
The key focus for the duration of the fixed term role will be embedding the team into the organisation. We will be standing up a new governance and ministerial servicing model, while looking to other functions that the team might support in future (including the production of key accountability documents and project delivery accountability).
Your team will include one other advisor and the Private Secretary, and collectively with the Chief of Staff, will be responsible for supporting ERO's senior leadership team to make decisions, deliver for Ministers, and lead ERO in delivering for the young learners of New Zealand.
As a Senior Advisor, you will lead governance and accountability initiatives to enable ERO's senior leadership team to better make informed decisions, as well as manage the interface between ERO and Ministers' Offices. Your role will also have an opportunity to support and develop the other advisor in the team.

Mōhou ake | About you
- Strong knowledge, understanding, and experience in working with relevant legislation and machinery of government processes, including leading responses to Official Information Act requests
- Experience in supporting governance processes, including providing secretariat services to leadership committees or other relevant groups
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to communicate complex information to different audiences
- Ability to form strong and effective working relationships, including collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to produce and recognise high quality work, including being able top identify areas for improvement and broader capability uplift
- High-level of initiative, sound judgment, and ability to consider the broader context
- The ability to work well under pressure, and to tight timeframes when needed
- Knowledge and experience, or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori
