**Te Whiwhinga mahi** | The opportunity**
We're looking for a **Model Ops Engineer**to take the lead in improving how machine learning models are deployed and managed. You'll focus on building and enhancing pipelines, automating key processes, and ensuring models run efficiently and securely. A strong understanding of machine learning, software engineering principles, and experience with platforms like Databricks and Azure will set you up for success.

This role requires someone who can collaborate effectively across teams, communicate clearly, and build strong relationships. You'll also need to be organised, adaptable, and mindful of security and discretion. With the flexibility to work from any of our three national offices, this is a fantastic opportunity to solve exciting challenges and play a key role in shaping how we deliver value through data and machine learning.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Advanced level skills in Python programming, SQL and R
- Experience in ModelOps/MLOps, DataOps & DevOps
- Clear understanding of statistical and ML modelling
- Very good understanding of Software Engineering principles
- Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with commercial cloud platforms - ideally Databricks and Azure ecosystems
- An understand of information security and discretion
- An ability to build and maintain relationships
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A relevant post graduate qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, IT, Engineering or another related discipline

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
