About Auror
At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to tackle theft and Organised Retail Crime, a $150 Billion problem globally. It’s high volume crime that’s increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day.
Founded in New Zealand 11 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and now the UK. After raising a NZ$30M Series B round in 2021, Auror decided to expand into the UK and we have had great traction in the market already.
Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good.
In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team.
The Role
We have a long term vision that includes significant advances in video evidence collecting and collaboration, and would like to ideally bring someone with video experience into the team to help bring this to life. You will be joining our highly collaborative Product team who are responsible for shipping great product from design and UX through to delivery, playing a critical role of designing the experiences we provide our customers, enabling our business to scale and take our software to the world.
At Auror, our Product squad work in streams. Each stream is cross-functional and includes Product Management, Product Design, Quality Assurance and Software Engineering. This way of working encourages and fosters collaboration amongst the team.
**The core responsibilities of this role include**:
Supporting the Product Squad to create, improve and maintain the user experience for our users by taking high level requirements, working them through an integrated and research focused design process to create exceptional experiences for our customers.
You’ll be involved in the end-to-end process of designing products from discovery, research, testing, launching and post-launch improvements. This includes partnering with a number of different people, internally and externally and bringing them along the journey.
You will be partnering with our current and prospective customers, including household name retailers and law enforcement agencies to shape how we can reduce crime in our communities.
You will be shaping the design practice, whether it’s internally with the design team or the wider business and contributing to developing best practices for our teams.
You will have experience in user testing, from writing scripts to conducting research plans, and are able to synthesise and share results to the business as part of our ethos in sharing our knowledge collectively.
Be an expert in visual design tools, such as Figma or Sketch, including experience in creating and sharing interactive prototypes.
A strong understanding of the ethical impact of the work undertaken, with a responsibility to create tools and services for good. An ability to consider the wider implications of how your work can affect our users, law enforcement and most importantly, the people whose information is stored on our platform on behalf of our customers.
This role is reporting into Tanja Kolrus, Senior Product Designer
I kick-started my design journey by creating interactive CD-ROMs and flashy websites. Eager to expand my skills, I pursued further studies in Information and Interaction Design. This decision opened doors to international media programs and internships, sparking a strong desire within me to explore opportunities abroad. In 2014, I relocated from Europe to New Zealand, where I worked in digital design agencies before joining an in-house product design team.
Trust and collaboration are incredibly important to me in my work. When Alister, our Director of Design asked me to join Auror, I was thrilled because we had a great working relationship at Trade Me in the past. Now, my goal is to maintain that positive and trusting dynamic by finding the right person to join our small design team.
**Requirements**:
**You may be a good fit if you**:
Are pragmatic in your approach and find looking at the big picture easy.
Value a highly collaborative approach. You're happiest when working closely with other Designers, Engineers, and Product Leads. You value feedback and generating ideas.
Have experience in video editing, or designing video editing tools, but this is not essential
Are comfortable taking high level written requirements and rough wireframes and designing beautiful experiences for our retailers and the police.
Have experience running a design process with user research, user flow, prototyping, co-design etc that enables you to make the best decisions for the business and our customers.
Enjoy variety in your role - you’re happy regardl
