About the Role:
Singh Trading (2016) Limited is looking for a responsible and experienced Duty Manager to join our liquor store in Timaru. This role requires a highly motivated individual who can manage day-to-day store operations, ensure compliance with New Zealand’s liquor laws, and provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

- Organize and control daily store operations, ensuring smooth workflow and a high standard of customer service. **Provide exceptional customer service and assist with purchases.** Ensure compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. **Verify customer identification and refuse service when necessary.** Handle stock management, ordering, and inventory control. **Maintain a clean and organized store environment.** Process transactions and manage cash handling. **Enforce health and safety regulations in the workplace.** Resolve customer complaints professionally. **Report to the store owner/management regarding sales and store performance.** Determine the product mix, maintain adequate stock levels, and ensure inventory is well-organized. Assist with purchasing decisions based on customer demand and sales trends. **Promote and sell liquor products while advising customers on selection, responsible alcohol consumption, and legal requirements.** Ensure full compliance with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012, ID verification procedures, and responsible service practices. **Formulate and implement marketing strategies, including store promotions and advertising campaigns to increase sales.** Maintain accurate records of stock levels, sales, and financial transactions. Assist in budgeting and cost management. **Oversee staff selection, training, and performance to ensure high-quality service and compliance with liquor laws.** Ensure store operations comply with occupational health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for staff and customers.

**Requirements**:

- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in retail, liquor sales, or a similar role OR a New Zealand Register Level 4 (or higher) qualification in a relevant field. **A valid Manager’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)** Previous experience in a liquor store or retail environment is preferred **Strong communication and leadership skills** Ability to work independently and as part of a team **Knowledge of New Zealand liquor laws and responsible service practices** Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
