Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
This position provides an excellent opportunity to support schools respond to increased wellbeing needs that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic across the northern region.
There are five roles based in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services across the of the four northern region DHBs (two in Counties Manukau). The roles are to be a liaison point for schools/clusters, to support them to navigate tamariki and whānau to appropriate primary and community-based services to meet their wellbeing needs. The roles will work collegially as a team with the support of a northern region project manager to develop the service design.
The positions are responsible for supporting primary and intermediate schools in their districts. They will build a system view of the universal, community, primary and secondary services and resources available for children and be a liaison point for schools to support them identify appropriate services and resources.
The role will be expected to find the most appropriate method for engaging with their regional school communities, in discussion with either the Tai Tokerau or Tamakai Makaurau health and education advisory groups. It is expected the model, including advice provided and resources shared, will build capacity within the schools/cluster.
Each hospital may have its own priority or focus but broadly the roles will work together to deliver:

- Liaison and support to schools
- Professional development support to schools in relevant topics/areas
- Service mapping and navigation
- Relationship and pathway building between schools and community providers
- Participate in quality improvement process
- Support future development of the service

This is an opportunity to work in a role where you can influence positive and meaningful changes.
The role involves liaison with primary care, community providers, education and learning support and other relevant service providers. Another key part of this position includes having an active role in coaching, up skilling, supervising and developing school wellbeing teams.
Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
With a strong commitment to a multi-disciplinary team approach and cross-cultural clinical practice, we are looking for a New Zealand Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with a current Annual Practising Certificate who have previously worked with children and adolescents. A full and clean driver's licence is required.

This is a one-year fixed term full time position working Monday to Friday, based from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) office and with an expectation of travel and time spent with schools, communities and other services providers.
