**Mo te tunga | About the role**

The Capability group is responsible for enabling Police's frontline by ensuring it remains fit for purpose in a changing and dynamic environment through continuously improving our operational capability.

The purpose of Operational Capability is to enhance our people's operational capability, so they are more effective in keeping themselves and our communities safe.

To support the delivery of these outcomes the Research Analyst will undertake research/evaluation of policing issues, policies, and strategies relating to Police, and to undertake analysis of relevant existing data and literature.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- To monitor and maintain databases and analyse and utilise data for the purposes of organisational assurance, preparedness, and improvement.
- To undertake and/or contribute to the research and evaluation work of the Operational Capability Insights and Performance team.
- Contributes to the evidence-based environment in which New Zealand Police operate, ensuring that policies and practices are built on a strong foundation, and in support of key organisational goals.

- A background in research analysis or a tertiary qualification in a relevant research or evaluation field.
- The ability to communicate complex issues efficiently and effectively to a wide audience is key.
- You will need to use your data acumen to design clear and insightful reports.
- To be successful in this role you will have a level of stakeholder management skill with the ability to communicate key concepts and influence stakeholders at both operational and strategic levels.
- Knowledge of the public sector environment is desirable.
- A high level of experience with the full Microsoft office suite is a must.

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $95,057 and $100,626 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
