We have two opportunities in the Policy Group within the Ministry of Justice for experienced Senior Policy Advisors to work on policy projects that will lead to change in the justice system.

**Mō te mahi / About the roles**

We have one role available in the Access to Justice Team and another role in the Civil Law Team. Both are Senior Advisor roles for a 12-month fixed term period.

**The Access to Justice Team** seeks to ensure equitable access to the courts and other dispute resolution mechanisms that allow people to enforce their rights and responsibilities. The team's work includes providing advice on our tribunals system, regulation of the legal profession, and policy and legislation which protects and promotes vulnerable people's rights.

**The Civil Law Team **is responsible for a wide array of policy and legislation that governs legal rights and responsibilities in interactions between private individuals. This ranges from occupational regulation and property law through to private international law.

To be successful in this role you will:

- Have strong relationship management skills and experience in engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders, both learning from and influencing their perspectives
- Be able to** **think analytically and critically and to resolve complex problems
- Be an excellent communicator, able to write clearly and simplify complex information, and ask questions to improve your understanding
- Have significant knowledge and understanding of the machinery of Government and public policy
- Have leadership skills, taking the initiative on issues and coaching and leading others to solve complex problems

Experience with the legislative process or a legal background would be an advantage.

**Utu ā-tau/**Salary**

The appointing salary for a Senior Policy Advisor will be between between $110,766 - $143,388 based on skills and experience.
