**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team**

The Strategic Treaty Policy and Treaty Capability team is tasked with providing Branch-wide intellectual leadership in responding to Māori primary sector policy issues and leading strategic direction in the implementation of the strategic plan to align with Māori economic development initiatives.

With the recent establishment of a new framework, a recently published strategy, and the appointment of a DDG Māori to enhance Māori capability across the organisation, MPI is uniquely positioned with significant influence to drive positive change for Māori economic development within the government.

The team will lead large strategic initiatives across the Policy and Trade Branch and the organisation that will impact a wide range of internal stakeholders and Māori primary sector stakeholders. While this team is strongly policy-driven, the work and outputs of the team are tangible, as evidenced by the recent Rautaki strategy release.
