Manatū Ahu Matua | Ministry for Primary Industries are looking for capable Senior Policy Analysts on a permanent basis, to fill key roles in teams across the Policy and Trade directorates to contribute to a diverse range of policy issues from forestry, climate change and primary sector workforce to name a few.

**Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team(s)**:
**Primary Sector Workforce Policy **looks at the immediate and long-term issues facing the workforce in the primary sector and developing informed policy advice backed by specific data sets across the sector.

**Forestry and Bioeconomy Policy** leads emerging policy direction for forestry and trees to support a sustainable low emissions future - particularly focused on ensuring new forest plantings contribute to the Government's goals for climate change and sustainable land use.

**Adaptive Farming and Planning Policy** has worked on a range of pressing and contemporary policy issues, initially including Regenerative Agriculture and Intensive Winter Grazing. The current focus is Integrated Farm Planning, which is Ministerial priority.

**The Strategic Treaty Policy and Treaty Capability team** are responsible for the implementation of Rautaki mo te Taurikura - MPI's strategy which is a core foundational document for the organisation.

**The Greenhouse Gas Inventory team** is responsible for reporting New Zealand's past, present, and future greenhouse gas emissions from land use (including forestry) and agriculture, as well as accurately forecasting future emissions.

**Biosecurity Policy** is one of two teams responsible for leading the development of our biosecurity system. They develop policy and strategy particularly focused around ensuring the Government's goal for mitigating the risk of pests and diseases that threaten our economy.

**Forestry Policy** works on domestic and international forestry system and strategy policy issues. There is a lot of change happening around how forestry can contribute to New Zealand’s economy, our environment and climate change and impacts on local communities.

**What you’ll bring**:
You will be an exceptional policy practitioner, meaning you will bring:

- Sound understanding of, and experience operating in, Government processes, including Parliamentary processes;
- Previous experience in establishing and effectively maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders, Māori and Government agencies;
- Demonstrated experience in project management;
- Sound understanding of economic and resource management policy approaches and frameworks;
- Sound knowledge of basic components of international trade, and environmental management frameworks and supporting instruments;
- Sound understanding of primary sector structure and operating context
