Part Time Retail Security

**We are currently recruiting for an experienced security guard to work 28 hours - Saturday-Monday at one of our retail sites in Palmerston North. Hours vary but are between 1200-2330.**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide a highly visible, approachable, and professional security presence ensuring the safety and comfort of all visitors and staff.
- Observe customer behaviour, identify suspicious activity, and intervene appropriately.
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, or requests for assistance, maintaining composure and professionalism in all situations.
- Write thorough, accurate, and objective incident reports, ensuring all relevant details are captured as per Red Badge Group and site requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers, tenants, and staff—offering information, directions, and support whenever required.
- Identify hazards (e.g., spills, blocked fire exits) and report or resolve them.
- Carry out end-of-day lock down and bed down procedures, including a full sweep of the mall to ensure all tenants, contractors, and customers have exited, all access points are secured, alarms are set, and the premises are safe for overnight closure.
- Promote and uphold Red Badge Group’s values by acting with integrity, fostering trust, and ensuring a welcoming environment for everyone.

**Essential Skills**:

- Proficient in clear and detailed incident report writing, with a strong focus on accuracy and objectivity.
- Solid knowledge or previous experience with access control procedures, preferably in a retail or customer-facing environment.
- Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with a range of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience in providing outstanding customer service, always striving for positive, solution-oriented outcomes.
- Familiarity with retail security protocols and basic security technology is advantageous.

**Entry Requirements**:

- Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in New Zealand.
- A clean criminal record
- Current Green COA (Certificate of Approval).
- Previous Security experience in a retail or similar role.
- Physically capable of patrolling retail sites, responding quickly to incidents, and standing for extended periods.
- Availability to work part-time hours, including evenings and weekends and cover additional shifts as needed.
- Must be capable of working independently as the sole security officer on site, demonstrating strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to incidents without immediate backup
