**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Procurement leader to lead, develop and coach a team of commercially aware business procurement professionals as well as driving the focus on sustainable procurement strategy and activities. As a key player of the Procurement Leadership team you will play an essential role in ensuring we deliver the best possible value for the people of Auckland. You and your team will:

- Partner with the business to develop and execute procurement strategies and plans, in the spend category of Infrastructure and Place (including Road Asset Maintenance & Delivery, Infrastructure Project Delivery, and Design & Engineering)
- Source, negotiate and contract agreements with supplier partners and
- Deliver supplier and contract management outcomes to enable the best possible 'value for money' for Auckland Transport (AT)

These responsibilities are key to delivering procurement outcomes aligned with our procurement mission to be a 'trusted business partner' within the organisation and position AT as 'customer of choice' with our supplier partners.

To be successful you will need solid experience in the delivery of procurement activities within large and complex organisations, ideally with experience in infrastructure procurement. You will need to have a business mindset with a focus on successful outcomes, and in addition a passion for building a high performing team is essential. You will be responsible for:

- Leading, coaching and mentoring high performing, team members (with diverse experience and skills across various levels)
- Ensuring team resources prioritised and balanced in delivering the pipeline of Business and procurement Category Strategy activities
- Setting, monitoring and reviewing direct report Performance objectives in line with the Performance & Development Plan (PDP) process
- Collaborating with key stakeholders and external suppliers, including Auckland Council and NZTA procurement teams
- Working with procurement colleagues and the Excellence team to identify and prioritise improvements to procurement standards, procedures and guidelines

**Key Requirements**:

- 10+ years experience in Procurement related roles
- 5+ years experience of direct line management with significant span of control (5+ direct reports)
- Previous accountability for significant / complex spends with experience across Plan, Source and Manage, ideally with infrastructure experience
- Tertiary degree in related discipline (business, financial, supply chain, etc)
