**About the Role**
**About the Team/Service/ Location**
Health NZ, Waikato offers a comprehensive range of Radiation Oncology services. Our department operates on the Eclipse planning system and boasts four linear accelerators capable of delivering state-of-the-art radiation treatments, including rotational IMRT and cone beam CT image guidance. We utilize cutting-edge technology such as TrueBeam, HyperArc and Halcyon for radiation procedures. In addition, we have superficial kilovoltage equipment for the treatment of skin cancers and are national leaders in HDR brachytherapy, with an active brachytherapy programme in treating gynaecological and prostate malignancies.
Our expertise also extends to stereotactic ablative radiation therapy (SABR) for lung cancer and lung metastases, as well as linear accelerator-based fractionated radiosurgery for brain metastases. We have well established SABR protocols for the spine, kidney, and prostate, with opportunities for the successful applicant to optimise current SABR protocols or contribute to the development of stereotactic techniques for other body sites. Furthermore, we are the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas.
At Waikato Hospital, you will work alongside eight medical oncologists, nine haematologists, ten radiation oncologists, and five palliative care physicians. As a Regional Cancer Centre, we serve a regional population of approximately 750,000 people. Radiation therapy is delivered at Waikato Hospital and outpatient clinics in Hamilton, as well as three secondary hospitals (Thames Hospital, Rotorua Hospital, and Gisborne Hospital).
