Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.
Our context
At the centre of the electricity sector in New Zealand, Transpower's position as Grid Owner and System Operator is governed by its own wide range of statutory and regulatory activity, which focusses on enhancing, protecting, and ensuring we have incentives to innovate, invest, and meet quality standards, and ultimately help make sure that all New Zealanders receive good service at a good price.
Electricity market, transmission, and economic investment regulation and statutory obligations provide several fronts for compliance monitoring directed towards the long-term interests of consumers.
About the team
Within our Grid Delivery Division, the Quality and Compliance team ensures Transpower maintains compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, industry standards, codes of practice, and Transpower's own business requirements as it drives associated continual improvement.
The Compliance team ensures the Grid Owner meets its obligations under the electricity industry participation code (EIPC) by establishing and implementing robust processes. This ensures asset owner gate keeper services are effective, and that provision of asset capability, capacity, and transmission information related to outages, ratings, special protection schemes, metering equipment, reconciliations, provisions, financial transmission rights, reserve market charges, asset code compliance, and compliance-related information meets requirements.
The team also support and administer critical processes and systems and ensure accurate and timely information exchange. Additionally, they support commissioning processes and promote compliance awareness within the business, oversee breach investigations, identify compliance risks, and facilitate improvements to mitigate and prevent further risk.
What's in it for you?
Join our collaborative and supportive team, make a meaningful impact, and be part of our mission to safeguard Transpower's integrity and reputation, whilst staying at the forefront of industry trends and best practices, and help shape the future of compliance. Enjoy a healthy work-life balance and the opportunity to work with talented and dedicated teams across various and interesting fields.

- Share insights and areas for focus or improvement with wider team feedback loops
- Identify improvements to mitigate compliance risks and prevent breaches
- Provide compliance awareness and training to internal and external stakeholder groups
- Identify potential changes to the Electricity Industry Participation Code

What will you bring
You will be adept at identifying opportunities to improve, innovate, and automate the way things are done, you may even possess some coding/programming skills to help with these outcomes.
Previous experience in a legal, risk, or compliance setting or a related field whilst not a prerequisite would be beneficial.
