**About the Role.**

Te Whānau o Waipareira is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team 20 hours per week as an Engaging Priority Families Specialist. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting priority tamariki from low socio-economic whānau's in their early learning journey.
- Your primary focus will be to promote engagement with early learning within the home and encourage whānau to access high-quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) opportunities. Additionally, you will facilitate smooth transitions for tamariki into school/kura and foster ongoing involvement in their education. Your holistic approach will aim to uphold the mana of Te Whānau o Waipareira, building positive relationships to protect, enhance, and develop the cultural, environmental, economic, and social well-being of the local community.**Responsibilities.**
- Support priority tamariki in low socio-economic whānau's by promoting engagement in early learning activities within the home.
- Encourage whānau to access quality ECE services, aiming to increase tamariki participation in ECE learning.
- Provide assistance to whānau in transitioning their tamariki from ECE to school/kura, ensuring a seamless and successful process.
- Foster continuous involvement of whānau in their tamariki's education journey, promoting a lifelong love for learning.
- Work collaboratively with all kaimahi (staff) and whānau, offering holistic support to uphold the mana of Te Whānau o Waipareira.
- Build and maintain positive relationships within the community, contributing to the cultural, environmental, economic, and social well-being of the local area.

**Your Skills & Experience.**
- A genuine passion for supporting tamariki and whānau in low socio-economic backgrounds.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices.
- Experience in engaging and building relationships with diverse communities and cultural groups.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and cultural awareness when working with whānau from different backgrounds.
- Knowledge of the local community and resources available for supporting whānau in need.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to upholding the mana of Te Whānau o Waipareira and its core values.
- Understanding of Te Reo Māori and knowledge of tikanga Māori.
- Experience working in a similar role, particularly within the context of supporting priority tamariki and their whānau would be beneficial.
