**Team Lead opportunity at Totara Park over our Summer period**
Auckland Council’s Pool & Leisure Centre at Totara Park are looking for a Team Leader to join us over the summer season and help guide our Lifeguard kaimahi, ending 28th Feb 2025.
As a Team Leader your mahi will be to ensure our Lifeguards can operate to the best of their ability, ensuring pool users have quality supervision and ensure health and safety standards are upheld while they have fun in the water.
You should have strong leadership and management experience in aquatic environments, along with skills in developing high-performing teams. A current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate, Chemical Handling Certificate, Pool Water treatment Certificate and pool plant management experience/knowledge is required. Reliability for early, late, and weekend shifts is essential, as the centre operates seven days a week with a 40-hour work week.
You will be responsible for, and not limited to:
- Effectively leading the day-to-day operation of the Aquatics team including the safe supervision of our pools and operation of our Aquatic services.
- Responsible for leading, coaching and engaging a team of Lead Lifeguards and Lifeguards.
- Ensuring hazard management plans, policy, processes, and training are effectively managed and there is ongoing compliance within the team.
- Collaborate with other stakeholders to proactively identify and where appropriate implement ways to improve customer experience and grow participation.
**This is a Fixed-Term, Full-time opportunity.**

You will have strong people leadership experience as well as management experience in similar Aquatic environments. Joining an energetic and passionate team, you will be an influential leader with experience managing and developing a high-performing team within a leisure facility. You will also ensure that employees' physical and mental well-being is always prioritised.
As the centre operates 7 days a week, reliability, and commitment to working early, late and weekend shifts are crucial.
