The Development Manager’s purpose is to ensure our client's engineers develop their skills and explore their full potential in line with their values.
This is an essential role that provides the conduit between their overall People and Culture practices and policies, and the specific needs of the technical team members.
The Development Manager’s priority is the growth and development needs of their development team.
**What does the Development Manager do?**
This role is responsible for the development and growth of their Business Improvements team in a way that enables them to scale and thrive. The Development Manager will:
- Working with the People & Culture Lead to establish a consistent Growth Framework that helps people assess their performance levels and identify gaps and personal development opportunities
- Ensure the team is continuously developing with learning and development plans in place
- Oversee career development and progression in the development team, including setting individual goals with direct reports and coaching them on how to do the same within their teams
- Be a role model for their values and set clear expectations by giving clear and honest feedback, and promptly address any performance or behaviour issues
- Ensure there is resilience and succession planning in place through thoughtful org design and active participation in planning and recruitment
- Collaborate with the Coaches to ensure the Development team members are challenged and constantly striving for excellence
- Collaborate with the Delivery Manager and the Coaches to ensure their distribution of skills across the teams is optimal and aligned with the overall strategy.
- Report on the successes, challenges, and needs of the Development team members.
**What will you need to be successful in this role?**
- Genuine ability to provide pastoral care to a diverse set of people.
- Ability to help the Development team members understand how they fit within the company and how they contribute to their success.
- Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring people and progressing their careers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to adapt to the situation and audience.
- Motivation to support the growth, performance management and development of team members.
