Whakarongorau aims to be there when face to face health and social services cannot, providing consistent, clinically supported access to services for those in need or when people are unable to access other options due to location, time of day, financial or cultural barriers.

A permanent opportunity is available offering full or part-time (0.6FTE minimum) hours following a 24/7 roster. We are currently looking to fill shifts between:
Monday - 5am-5pm
Tuesday - 12am
- 8am
Thursday - 12am and 8am
Friday - 5am and 5pm
Saturday 6am -2pm
Sunday 12am-4pm
In this crucial Mental Health and Addictions role, your core professional counselling skills will make a significant impact on supporting individuals dealing with well-being, substance use, mental health challenges, and problem gambling.

**Qualifications**:
**Mōu ake | About you**
You are a Fully Registered Professional with a New Zealand Body and have experience in 1:1 counselling.
The following is a general indication of what you bring to your work:
- A high level of listening and communication skills
- Able to use appropriate counselling and support skills to meet tangata whai ora needs
- Ability to work in busy environments and managing challenging situations
- Demonstrate strong self-awareness and able to reflect on their practice
- Proven skill in assessing and managing risk situations, and ability to communicate with external agencies.
- Effective planning and organisational skills
- Demonstrate strong self-awareness and able to reflect on their practice
- Knowledge of kaupapa Māori frameworks in the mental health sector
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to increasing equity for Māori tangata whai ora
- The confidence to work with new technology, tools, and resources
- Whakarongorau Aotearoa acknowledges Mana Māori and mātauranga Māori as a professional skill set
