**Automation Engineer**

Oji Fibre Solutions is New Zealand’s leading manufacturer of pulp, paper and suppliers of packaging solutions to a wide range of industries throughout the country. Our Paper Bag business based in Penrose, Auckland designs and produces multi-wall bags for the Dairy, Cement, Flour and Sugar industries throughout the country and into offshore markets.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will plan and design automation solutions for Oji’s manufacturing process at our Paper Bag site. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements, regarding process and automation ensuring the efficient and uninterrupted operation of the manufacturing equipment and process. This challenging role offers plenty of opportunities to make a real impact and requires strong communication skills in addition to your technical skills.
- Minimum 3 years+ experience in Automation/Electrical Engineering in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with the following: Allen Bradley and Omron PLCs, SCADA systems, Manufacturing computer-based systems and Kawasaki robots
- Project management experience with emphasis on continuous improvement
- Self-motivated and driven
- Tertiary Qualifications are essential (Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred)
- High computer literacy (MS Suite, databases)

Your responsibilities include:
Engineering
- Implement electrical engineering/automation solutions to improve product quality, reduce machine downtime and improve machine speed.
- Implement and support manufacturing computer systems used for the capture and reporting of manufacturing metrics.

Technical Support
- Provide support for the existing electrical engineering equipment used on site. This includes OEM equipment and interfacing with suppliers to provide on-site technical support.
- Providing engineering support and knowledge to the maintenance team.
