This is a senior leadership role within the Whenua Haumanu Programme, a seven-year, $26M flagship programme within the Ministry for Primary Industries Sustainable Food and Fibre Futures fund, which is now in its second year. This role is critical in creating and maintaining focus, enthusiasm, and momentum to achieve the successful delivery of this programme and will support a Programme Governance Group led by an independent chair, along with a Programme Management Group.
Key activities of this role will involve coordinating the Whenua Haumanu Programme in consultation with programme leads and site managers, preparation of detailed reports including financial administration and analyses, and managing and maintaining relationships with research partners and the extensive group of stakeholders through the development and implementation of a communication plan.

About you - Ko koe tēneiTo achieve success in this role, you must be an excellent communicator, with strong management skills in programme delivery and implementation of outputs, and be able to establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders while providing clarity of programme strategic direction and managing expectations.
You will also have outstanding organisational skills and a proven track record of managing a large multi-year and multi-partner research programme to deliver to contractual agreement.
Having the ability to successfully communicate and interact with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industries and farmers, is essential. So, experience in online communication platforms such as websites, and social media outlets will be required.
You will need at least five years of project management experience and/or a relevant tertiary qualification aligned to the science underpinning the Whenua Haumanu Programme (i.e. Bachelors or Master's degree in Agricultural, Horticultural or Animal Science, or an alternative relevant science).
