We need an experienced regulator to lead our Compliance Team, bringing technical competence, and solutions-based customer service to the table. You and your team are key to Council creating a well-functioning, safe and vibrant city.

As our Team Leader, you'll provide excellent leadership, and skill development to the team, and together you will provide a wide range of top-notch investigative and compliance services, including environmental health, alcohol licensing, bylaw and RMA compliance. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering professional growth, mentoring your team, and ensuring every compliance function is executed with professionalism and excellence. Together, we’ll maintain and elevate our positive public profile.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Stakeholder Partnership Development**: Forge strong, proactive partnerships with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and industry partners for sustainable collaboration.
- **Collaboration**: Work seamlessly with internal and external stakeholders, including the Council, MBIE, Local Business Operators and NZ Police, to drive positive community outcomes.
- **Public Education**: Lead public education efforts on relevant regulations and legislative requirements to promote compliance and enhance public relations.
- **Recruitment and Onboarding**: Deliver recruitment processes and ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new team members.
- **Technical Advice**: Provide expert technical advice on food, hygiene, environmental effects, and alcohol-related matters.
- **Conflict Facilitation**: Skilfully resolve conflicts arising from interactions with customers and stakeholders.
- **Workload Management**: Ensure your team meets statutory timeframes, organisational KPI targets, and customer service levels with precision.
- **Investigation Oversight**: Uphold the highest professional standards in all investigations, ensuring full compliance with judicial and legislative requirements.

**What You’ll Need to Succeed**:

- A tertiary qualification (e.g. Bachelor's degree or Diploma) in environmental health, science, sale of alcohol, compliance, resource management, investigation, or enforcement, or equivalent knowledge.
- A deep understanding of relevant legislation and bylaws, especially in the context of local authority alcohol licensing.
- Well-honed investigative, analytical, and report writing skills to tackle complex tasks with ease.
- Proven leadership skills to conduct research, investigate, and effectively resolve complex problems.
