Group Manager, Hospital Funding Intelligence

**About the Role**
As Group Manager, Hospital Funding Intelligence, you will lead the development of regional funding allocation methodologies for over $16 billion in annual expenditure, including the implementation of a modified activity-based purchasing framework. Your role will be pivotal in delivering high-quality funding analysis and planning intelligence that informs hospital production planning and strategic commissioning across the health system. You will collaborate closely with regional teams, Health Analytics, and clinical leaders to ensure insights are used effectively to improve access, equity, and outcomes for all New Zealanders. This is a highly influential leadership position that combines analytical excellence with strategic vision to support sustainable hospital and specialist service delivery nationwide.
**About the Service**
This position sits within the Funding, Hospitals function in the Planning, Funding and Outcomes Directorate, reporting to the Director, Funding, Hospitals. You will lead a team and work in partnership with regional and national leaders, hospital planning teams, and external stakeholders to strengthen funding intelligence and planning capability across the health system.
**About you**
You are an accomplished analytics and funding leader with a strong background in health sector intelligence, data-driven planning, and large-scale financial management. You bring strategic thinking, exceptional people leadership, and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights that shape national decision-making.
You will bring:
- At least 10 years' senior-level experience leading analytics teams within large or complex organisations.
- A comprehensive understanding of health sector data, funding models, and healthcare processes.
- Experience developing and implementing large-scale funding frameworks or activity-based purchasing models.
- Proven ability to think and plan strategically, connecting insights to long-term service planning and performance improvement.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
