**The Waikato Region Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group is administered by the Waikato Regional Council. It comprises a consortium of 11 local authorities, emergency services, lifelines utilities, welfare organisations, government departments and non-government organisations operating in the central area of New Zealand’s North Island.**

**Our risks are as diverse as the region we care for; from the coastlines of the Coromandel Peninsula to the ‘super-volcano’ in Taupō.**

**About you**:**The effectiveness of Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) relies on its ability to not only respond to emergencies but also to identify, evaluate and provide potential solutions or mitigation actions to more strategic or long-term issues of concern before an emergency occurs**:

- **We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic, individual with relevant experience, to join our team and take up the challenge of developing and improving the response capability of the Waikato CDEM Group**:

- **You will be a self-starter, who has a proven track record of delivering high quality results**

**Qualifications**:
**Experience**:

- **Minimum of 5 years in a relevant role/field**

**About the role**:
**This position supports the Team Leader Operational Readiness and the Waikato CDEM Group to deliver the desired outcomes and outputs through **work programme coordination and implementation of effective operational readiness projects **. The functions of the role include**:

- **Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Group Emergency Management Office (GEMO) and Group Emergency Coordination Centre (GECC)**
- **Support the development and implementation of the Waikato CDEM Group Training and Exercise Strategy, Plans and curriculum**
- **Deliver, coordinate and facilitate CDEM training and exercises to the Waikato Group, its partners and stakeholders; including central government, business or the community (Community Response Groups and CDEM Volunteers)**
- **Support the delivery of an efficient and effective 24-hour regional duty officer capability
