About the Role
The Principal Consultant role is an exciting and diverse technical leadership role within the Application Assurance teams combining technical and business responsibilities.
As a Principal Consultant, you will use your technical experience to consult in the design, development, and delivery of detailed technical solutions. You'll work closely with technical seniors to oversee supported solutions, assisting with enhancements and improvements and trouble-shooting complex issues. You'll also provide advice on the technical evolution of the Assurance service offerings.
You will be part of the Assurance team managing customers and will provide support in developing and presenting proposals. You'll assist in service design and the structuring of deliveries, general planning, and team management of Assurance deliveries.
**What you’ll do**:
There will be technical responsibilities including problem identification, system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, implementation, testing, client training, and solution deployment.
You'll also have the opportunity to participate in sales and proposal presentations in addition to completing ongoing team account activities and identifying additional product/services opportunities in a customer organisation.
Designing and developing high-quality business solutions and other projects.
Evaluating customers' business needs, thus contributing to strategic planning of information systems facilities and software directions.
Be accountable for defined work assignments often involving immediate action or short-term planning of human and other resources.
Planning and coordinating resources necessary to complete product implementation and assisting in the preparation of major sales proposals.
Liaising with major customers during preliminary installation and testing of developed solutions or products.
Managing a team of consultants (largely dependent on the size and scope of client project).
Responsible for implementing a principle driven health and safety culture that cares for employees and ensures their safety in line with Datacom policy.
What you’ll bring
Broad knowledge of information technology/business management and/or business concepts and products.
Sound understanding of architectural patterns and concepts.
Knowledge of industry standards and general government technology-related regulations.
Strong technical background
Business awareness (corporate structure, ROI, TCO, budget and planning strategy etc).
Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for anticipating, recognising, managing, and resolving automation problems.
Knowledge of Application Management practices and service design experience.
10+ years’ related IT experience.
Technical leadership experience.
Practical experience in professional services, particularly in Software Engineering and Application Management.
Proven experience with automation languages, practices, and toolsets.
Analytical, consultative, and planning skills.
Proven self-ownership of personal training and development.
Good ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.
Adheres to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements.
Strong ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the business.
Sound technical specification writing/documentation skills.
Ability to interact and network with stakeholders.
Ability to work in large, collaborative teams and gain the cooperation of others.
Negotiating skills.
Ability to build productive customer relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
