- Salary range: 75K - $121K plus kiwisaver and wellness benefits Tēnei tūranga - About the Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Solicitor to join our Corporate and Registries team.
New Zealand’s future economy will have a different mix of industries, jobs, and skills. MBIE’s advice in these areas will inform decisions that re-shape New Zealand’s economic future. In this role you will have the opportunity to provide legal advice on a broad range of matters. MBIE collaborates with business groups in providing data and technology to enable delivery on the opportunities, challenges and priorities that lie ahead for Aotearoa New Zealand. That is where your passion and experience in understanding information, data and privacy practice and governance can influence new ways of thinking and working.
In this role you will work with other in-house counsel providing high quality and timely advice on a wide range of legal issues. You will need to be technically proficient, agile, adaptable and a strong communicator. This is a fantastic opportunity offering the opportunity to work with experts to build your knowledge and provide advice and support on some of MBIE’s most complex and legal matters.
**Salary range**:
Solicitor 1 - $75K - $88K
Solicitor 2 - $101K - $121K

Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required
- Experience in public law and sound legal technical skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication abilities, which allow you to convey key ideas and issues in a way that is suitable to the audience
- Strong relationship management skills and an ability to work well with others
- A current practising certificate or be eligible for a practising certificate
- Experience working in relation to one or more of MBIE’s 16 regulatory systems would be an advantage
- Experience working on governance, integrity and conduct matters and / or regulatory compliance and enforcement
