The Reserve Bank is preparing for new legislation that will promote the prosperity and well-being of New Zealanders. This legislation will contribute to a productive and sustainable economy by protecting and promoting the stability of the financial system. This is an exciting time as the Bank continues to transform, setting up to meet an evolving mandate and purpose. This role sits within an ongoing project with a range of newly created roles that will enable Te Pūtea Matua to prepare for the Deposit Takers Bill that's been introduced to Parliament. Te tūranga - The role The Senior Statistical Analyst, Data Development reports to the Data Development Manager in the Data, Statistics & Analytics department. The Senior Statistical Analyst will use their knowledge of statistical frameworks, tools and methods to deliver data development initiatives that will better enable data-driven decision-making at the Bank. This role will primarily focus on data collections that will underpin requirements of the proposed Deposit Takers Act. This Act will create a single regulatory regime for all entities who hold deposits, and will enable a new Depositor Compensation Scheme to protect deposits held in these institutions. Data collections could take the form of aggregated financial reporting surveys, specific case studies, or larger, granular datasets. Each collection will need consideration of the most effective tools to design, build, and utilise them well. The Senior Statistical Analyst expected to lead specific development initiatives within the wider project, such as designing new collections for deposit takers that are proportionate with their size. In addition to designing and building collections, you will have the opportunity to analyse results and transition collections successfully into regular production. You will collaborate effectively within and across departments to drive initiatives to improve processes and obtain more value from data and statistics. - a relevant tertiary degree in related disciplines supported ideally by a minimum four years' experience
- experience in economics, finance, or banking is an advantage
- strong analytical skills and a proven ability to show sound judgement from your experience and relevant qualifications in statistics, banking or the financial sector.
- experience designing and running a data collection from start to finish
- experience working with a range of data and analysts tools
- relationship management skills and experience engaging and working with a range of internal and external stakeholders
